England coach Duncan Fletcher insisted there was no cause for alarm despite a humbling six-wicket loss to Pakistan A four days before the first Test. "It is not a big deal, we are a side starting a difficult tour," he said.
Fletcher drew parallels with last year's trip to South Africa when the tourists also lost to the A side, but won the Test series impressively 2-1.
"It's similar and there we went on to play some very good cricket. We're fine and will be ready for the first Test."
England will be hoping for a similar response to 11 months ago in Port Elizabeth, when they recovered from their seven-wicket defeat by the A team with a seven-wicket success of their own against South Africa.
"We have the quality players who can do it again," Fletcher said.
"They realise how important Test cricket is and they will play the cricket they are capable of."
Pakistan A captain Hasan Raza was less convinced and said: "I think Pakistan can beat them, our main players will get a boost from this result."
