 Botham's legend lives on among England supporters |
Ian Botham has beaten Andrew Flintoff to the title greatest England cricketer of the last 25 years. Botham, a member of five Ashes-winning sides, topped a poll of 30,000 BBC Five Live listeners.
The former all-rounder picked up 36% of the vote, with Graham Gooch (30%) in second place and Flintoff (24%) third.
Botham will receive his award at the Professional Cricketers Association dinner, to be held next Monday at London's Royal Albert Hall.
The other nominees for the award were David Gower, Alec Stewart and Darren Gough.
Botham took 148 wickets and scored 1,673 runs in 36 Tests against Australia after making his Ashes debut at Trent Bridge in 1977.
