Ponting has been docked 75% of his �5,200 match fee after letting fly with a tirade at the England dressing room after he was run out.

Katich has lost half his fee for dissent after being trapped lbw.

The ICC hearings, chaired by match referee Ranjan Madugalle, took place at the end of play on Sunday.

Ponting was found guilty of breaching rule C2 of the ICC code of conduct which says "players and/or officials shall at no time engage in conduct unbecoming to their status which could bring them or the game of cricket into disrepute".

Katich was charged under rule 2.2, which covers serious dissent at an umpire's decision by action or verbal abuse.

At the end of play on Saturday, Ponting released a statement apologising for his behaviour.

"I let myself down and I apologise to those who see me as a role model," skipper Ponting said.

"My frustration was compounded by the fact I was run out by a sub fielder, an issue that has concerned us and one we raised before the series.

Ponting was run out by sub fielder Gary Pratt for 48 on day three after Australia were made to follow on for the first time since 1988.

Durham's Pratt was on the field for paceman Simon Jones, who had been taken to hospital for tests on an injured right ankle.

Katich was visibly riled after he was given out lbw to Steve Harmison on the tense final day, despite the ball pitching outside leg and heading over the stumps.

Australia lost the fourth Test by three wickets to trail the series 2-1 with one match to play.
