Jones to cool down celebrations
Jones points Hayden back to the pavilion after dismissing him for 31

England's Simon Jones admits he will have to tone down his wicket celebrations after being fined for the send-off he gave to Matthew Hayden.

Jones lost around 1,000 for pointing the Aussie opener back to the pavilion on day two of the second-Test win.

"Things happen in the heat of the moment and sometimes you can't control what you're doing," he told BBC Sport.

"Someone else takes over and it's a great feeling but you may look back on it and think, 'what was I doing?'"

Jones added: "In future I'm going to have to learn maybe to calm myself down a bit."

He came into the changing room afterwards and we had a chat - he's a really nice guy

The wicket was vital in the context of the game as it brought to a halt Australia's brisk start in pursuit of 282 for victory.

The Test incident was the second involving the two players during this Ashes summer, and both have come at Edgbaston.

In a one-day game last month Hayden reacted angrily after being struck on the shoulder by Jones, who was taking a shy at the stumps after bowling to the left-hander.

But Jones said there were no feeling of malice between the two players.

"I got a little bit annoyed with myself as I was a bit out of rhythm - maybe I'm a little too hard on myself," Jones explained.

"But when I got Hayden out it was a relief because he's a very good player and we needed him out.

"He came into the changing room afterwards and we had a chat - he's a really nice guy.

"We had a chat about what happened in the one-dayer and had a bit of a laugh."
