NatWest Series, Edgbaston:
West Indies 122-4 (21 overs) v New Zealand 97-2, match abandoned, 3 pts each Lara's spectacular knock was in vain |
Brian Lara's 36 off 22 balls proved to be meaningless as the West Indies' NatWest Series game with New Zealand was abandoned due to rain.
Weather delays saw the game cut first to 35 overs each, then later 21.
Lara's impressive knock, which included 23 runs off one Jacob Oram over, set the West Indies on their way to 122-4.
The Black Caps were on 97-2 when the rain returned, and with no more play possible the match ended with no result and the teams given three points each.
