Yorkshire agree Scarborough deal
Steve Kirby celebrates
Yorkshire won the Championship at Scarborough four years ago
Yorkshire have signed an agreement to continue playing at the North Marine Road ground in Scarborough until 2010.

The deal should guarantee two four-day and two one-day fixtures will be played at the ground each year.

But that could change if the current first-class cricket format which sees each county play 16 Championship games, eight at home, is altered.

North Marine Road has staged county cricket since 1874 and Yorkshire won the County Championship there in 2001.

It was also the venue for two one-day internationals - England losing to West Indies in 1976 but beating New Zealand two years later.

Scarborough CC chairman Bill Mustoe said the relationship with Yorkshire was currently "as good as it has ever been".

He added: "We welcome the partnership which will considerably enhance the financial arrangements of both parties."

Yorkshire will play Championship games against Leicestershire and Durham at Scarborough this summer, along with Totesport League fixtures against Warwickshire and Derbyshire.
