Kabir was Worcestershire's leading wicket-taker last season

Worcestershire paceman Kabir Ali says his season is not over despite struggling with a back injury.

The 28-year-old, who has been out for two months this term, is waiting for the results of a scan to find out how serious the current problem is.

"I have been having sleepless nights over this, it has been a pretty bad season for me with injuries," he said.

"We are just waiting for the results, fingers crossed, it is nothing serious. I don't think my season is over."

Kabir was Worcestershire's leading wicket-taker last season but has been sidelined with a torn hamstring this season.

The former England international struggled with a stress fracture at the end of last season and had an injection last week to relieve the current pain, but it did not work.

"I can pinpoint where the pain is, but not where it is coming from," he said.

"I also don't think that the problem is in the lower back as I had an injection in the facet joint and that hasn't eased the problem."

Kabir says if the scan does not reveal any serious damage, he will play through the pain.

"It might just be a case of having some painkillers and hopefully playing," he said.
