Moeen Ali again showed his liking for Kidderminster |
Worcestershire declared their first innings on 334-5 on day one of the match against Loughborough UCCE at Chester Road, Kidderminster. Moeen Ali hit his highest first class score (92), supported by Ben Smith (71), Steven Davies (50 not out) and debutant Alex Kervezee, who made 41. Chris Whelan then struck to remove Johan Malcolm before the close, to leave the students on 42-1. Matt Mason continued his recovery by opening the Worcestershire bowling. Moeen hit his previous highest first-class score (85) in last season's final County Championship game against Sussex at Hove. But his best for Worcestershire is still the astonishing 49-ball 100 he hit a fortnight earlier at Chester Road against Northamptonshire in last season's Pro40.
