Kabir Ali was on form with the bat as Worcestershire won their pre-season encounter against Essex at Chelmsford. Kabir hit an unbeaten century with 12 fours and three sixes as his side won by three wickets. Having passed Essex's total of 179 all out, with seven wickets down, Worcestershire chose to bat on, finally making 299 for nine. Worcestershire's next warm-up game is against Minor Counties side Herefordshire at New Road on Saturday. Worcestershire's first County Championship game is against Warwickshire at Edgbaston on Wednesday 16 April. There will be full ball-by-ball commentary on BBC Hereford & Worcester.
