Worcestershire wicket keeper Steven Davies has signed a one-year contract extension with the club. The deal means that the 21-year-old will now stay at New Road at least until the end of the 2009 season.
"This is my home county and my friends are here and family are here so I'm over the moon," Davies told BBC Hereford & Worcester.
"The management are very good. Steve Rhodes is here so obviously he can offer lots of advice to me."
Director of cricket Rhodes was delighted to have sorted out a contract for another of his key players - especially for Kidderminster boy Davies, one of the few players born and educated within the county.
"We've tied up Gareth Batty, Kabir Ali and now Steve," said Rhodes. "That's three fringe England players and it's good the club can secure some future over the next few years.
"Steven has got a great future and he's already cemented his place with England A. All he's looking for now is consistency."
