Chaminda Vaas credits spells in county cricket for an improvement in batting that saw him share a seventh-wicket stand of 183 with Mahela Jayawardene. Vaas, who hit 90 before ripping through the England top order to take 4-28, said: "When you play county cricket you have to deliver batting and bowling.
"I improved my batting when played for Middlesex and Worcestershire and I've been taking it seriously in the nets. �
"From the beginning I bowled in good areas and I got my reward."
