Troughton's Warwickshire have won five of their nine CB40 matches |
Warwickshire captain Jim Troughton believes his team can still defend their CB40 title. The Bears beat Hampshire by 51 runs at Edgbaston on Tuesday but remain fourth in their group. "We've got three games left and they're all against teams I think we're capable of beating," Troughton told BBC Coventry & Warwickshire. "If we win those three games we'll see where we are after that and hopefully we'll have a bit of luck come our way." Warwickshire must still play Durham away, and Surrey and Northamptonshire at Edgbaston. Troughton (61) was one of three players to hit half-centuries for the Bears against Hampshire as opener Neil Carter (53) and Rikki Clarke (63) helped the home side reach 273 for 8 from their allotted overs. Despite a second wicket partnership of 116 from James Vince (82) and Sean Ervine (47), the visitors fell short in their run chase and were bowled out for 222. New Zealand spinner Jeetan Patel returned figures of 3 for 41 on a wicket which helped the spinners.
