Warwickshire captain Darren Maddy admits his side have not had a memorable start to the season. The Bears, with a new-look side, have won just once so far in the County Championship and are yet to taste victory in one-day cricket. Maddy told BBC WM: "It's been a difficult first month of the season. "We've played 21 days out of 24 and it's tough on the body but we're still positive about the way we're going about our cricket." Warwickshire continue their Friends Provident Trophy campaign on Friday against Ireland in Belfast. After their first game was abandoned, the Bears have lost three in a row despite an innings of 120 from Jonathan Trott in their last game against Northamptonshire. | We've got a couple of days off before regrouping for a good practice and flying to Belfast Bears skipper Darren Maddy |
But Maddy is focusing on the positives: "Jonathan Trott's innings was exceptional and he looks like he's back to his best. "The emergence of young Chris Woakes and Richard Johnson was pleasing. They both handled themselves very well in their first appearances. "We've got a couple of days off before regrouping for a good practice and flying to Belfast."
