Veteran Salisbury signs for Bears
Ian Salisbury
Salisbury has played first-class cricket for the last 18 seasons
Former England leg-spinner Ian Salisbury has joined Warwickshire on a two-year contract.

The 37-year-old began his career with Sussex before moving on to Surrey, where he spent the last decade.

"I have been lucky enough to play at two fantastic clubs during my career and it will be brilliant to finish at another fantastic club," he said.

Salisbury will fill the gap created by Alex Loudon's recent decision to quit Warwickshire for a career in business.

Salisbury, who played 15 Tests and four one-day internationals for England between 1992 and 2000, has taken more than 850 first-class wickets and scored over 6,000 runs during his career.

"Sals will add some much needed experience back into our squad," director of cricket Ashley Giles commented.

"The retirements of Heath Streak and Dougie Brown have left the current squad light in this regard and I know a player of Ian's calibre will be a great asset to the team.

"He has knowledge of the game in all formats. He will be a great help to the younger players and those coming through the academy in the spin bowling department."
