Warwickshire sign Streak
Dewald Pretorius
Pretorius is a bowler of genuine pace
Warwickshire have signed two right-arm seam bowlers from southern Africa in Heath Streak and Dewald Pretorius.

Zimbabwe captain Streak and South African international Pretorius will between them make up the second overseas player spot for 2004.

Streak will play between mid-June until the end of August in a period when he is not required by his country.

Pretorius will begin the season with the Bears, and then return at the end of August as cover for Streak.

Warwickshire captain Nick Knight said: "I am absolutely delighted that Heath will be joining us next season.

"With 200 Test wickets to his name, he will help the young bowlers coming through as well as bolstering our batting line-up. His cricketing experience will be invaluable."

The pairing will complement the Australian spinner Brad Hogg, who has already signed for the club.

Pretorius has played four Tests, the last against England at Headingley last year.

He also appeared for Durham in 2003, taking 26 wickets in 10 Championship appearances.

The 26-year-old is a protege of former Warwickshire fast bowler Allan Donald, who plays alongside him for Free State in South African domestic cricket.
