Sussex are hoping Mohammad Sami can give them a cutting edge |
Sussex have signed fast bowler Mohammad Sami until the end of the season as they look to fill the yawning gap created by Mushtaq Ahmed's retirement. Sami, 27, a Pakistan international, has played 83 one-day internationals, taking 118 wickets, and also 33 Tests which have provided 81 wickets. Mark Robinson, Sussex's professional cricket manager, said: "Mushtaq helped massively with the signing of Mohammad. "He spent 10 days on the phone making sure everything went smoothly." Sussex had originally hoped Sami would arrive at Hove in time for last week's match with Nottinghamshire. Bur Robinson, whose team are struggling with their bid to retain their Championship title, added: "His arrival will give everybody a boost for what is looking like an extremely important game at Scarborough [against Yorkshire] on Wednesday."
