Saqlain Mushtaq left after one year of a two-year deal |
County champions Sussex have released Saqlain Mushtaq at the request of the former Pakistan Test off-spinner. "Sussex County Cricket Club regrets that, owing to personal reasons, Saqlain Mushtaq will be unable to fulfil his contract next season.
"He has, therefore, been released from the club," said a statement from Hove.
The 30-year-old bowler said: "I would like to thank the whole team at Sussex for all the opportunities they have given me this season."
Saqlain took 14 wickets in four Championship matches but his opportunities were limited behind compatriot Mushtaq Ahmed.
"The club has been wonderful and it is with a heavy heart that I am having to say goodbye for my own personal reasons," he said.
He had signed a two-year contract at Hove in February having previously been a regular at Surrey.
Sussex's pro cricket manager Mark Robinson said: "We would like to thank Saqlain for all he has given the club and wish him well if he decides to stay in the game, or indeed what ever the future holds for him."
