Surrey will rename their ground the Kia Oval from 1 January, after the club struck a £3.5m five-year sponsorship deal with the car manufacturer. Kia, who also become the club's shirt sponsor, replace Brit Insurance. Paul Sheldon, chief executive of Surrey said: "To sign a deal with a leading international brand such as Kia is a fantastic boost to the club. "This allows us to plan for the future - both financially and on the field - with certainty." Brit Insurance took over naming rights of the famous old ground back in 2004. "I would also like to take this opportunity to pay tribute to Brit Insurance, which had been our lead sponsor since 2004," Sheldon added. "Throughout this time they have been a great support and I am delighted they are still a major supporter of our sport. "I have great confidence that our partnership [with Kia] has a long and strong future ahead of it."
