Surrey captain Rory Hamilton-Brown has been selected to skipper England for the Hong Kong Sixes.

The 23-year-old played in last year's tournament and will be looking to lead England to their sixth win.

"To captain your country in anything is a huge honour, it's something I've always wanted to do," he told BBC London 94.9.

They will take on Australia, South Africa and Hong Kong in the preliminary rounds of the competition.

Kent all-rounder Darren Stevens and Somerset's Peter Trego will also be returning to Hong Kong for a second time and Hamilton-Brown believes this will help the England team to perform well.

"There are three or four of us in the squad who were there last year, so it's about blending, probably having a decent game plan, speaking to the guys who were there last year and moving forward from there."

It'll be nice being in charge of people I don't know hugely well.

Hamilton-Brown admits he was pleasantly surprised by his experience at last year's event and had hoped he would be returning this year.

"I didn't know much about it, but I have to say I went out there and the cricket was fantastic, the atmosphere, everything about it was a fantastic competition," he added.

"I think half-way through this season I had a little eye on it, thinking to myself I'll hopefully get back on the team, it's great fun."

James Whitaker will manage the England squad which also includes Chris Nash (Sussex), Steven Croft (Lancashire), Jos Buttler (Somerset) and Rikki Clarke (Warwickshire).

Hamilton-Brown, who became Surrey captain in December 2009 after re-joining from Sussex, says he is looking forward to leading a new squad.

"It will be nice being in charge of people I don't know hugely well," he said.

"That's one thing I love about England stuff, you get to meet other cricketers you don't spend so much time with, so it's nice to get to know them and their views."

India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and New Zealand make up the other preliminary group in the $150,000 tournament which takes place on 7 and 8 November.
