Surrey all-rounder Chris Jordan to miss start of season

Jordan suffered a stress fracture in his late teenage years

Surrey all-rounder Chris Jordan could miss the start of the new season because of a back problem.

The 21-year-old is two weeks into a six-week "no impact" rest period while he is nurtured back to match fitness.

Surrey say Barbados-born Jordan could be in contention within a fortnight of a successful rehabilitation.

Manager Chris Adams told BBC London 94.9: "This time last year it appeared we had him in good shape but something went in the lower back again."

He added: "He's had a frustrating 12 months which is now stretching into 24 months, since coming back from the original stress fracture that he had three years ago.

"He struggled through last year without getting into any sort of rhythm.

"We've come almost back to where we started.

"The conclusion is that the original stress fracture site has not healed properly."
