Walters lauds veteran Ramprakash

Acting Surrey captain Stewart Walters has heaped praise on Mark Ramprakash after the pair's mammoth partnership in the draw with Leicestershire.

Ramprakash hit 274, with Walters making 188 as they added 404 for the third wicket at The Oval.

"He's awesome to watch, especially from the other end where you can see the way he goes about his business," Walters told BBC London 94.9.

Walters is standing in as skipper for Mark Butcher, who has a knee injury.

Australia-born Walters has himself been in great form since taking over as leader, and said that he is keen to make the most of his purple patch.

"I'm afraid I'm going to wake up soon," said Walters.

"It's such a surreal feeling at the moment, everything I hit comes out of the middle of the bat and it's times like this that I've got to cash in as much as I can."
