Rainford-Brent confident for Cup

Surrey all-rounder Ebony Rainford-Brent feels England should qualify from the group stage of the women's World Cup.

The 25-year-old Londoner, who made her England debut in 2001, has not played in a World Cup before.

She told BBC London 94.9: "Pakistan and Sri Lanka are an unknown quantity. India have got good firepower.

"They also have a really tall fast-bowler who moves the ball a lot. If we do the right things, we should get through the group no problem."

But she warned: "In sport you can never be too complacent."

The emotions are up and down really, everyone's talking about it and asking you questions, and it's getting so close

England's opening match of the tournament is against Sri Lanka in Canberra on 7 March, followed by a game with India on 10 March in North Sydney and Pakistan at the same venue two days later.

Rainford-Brent was part of the England squad who won the Ashes series down under last year, but admits being part of a World Cup squad is a whole new experience.

"You wake up in the morning, you get excited then you try not to be too excited. The emotions are up and down really, everyone's talking about it and asking you questions, and it's getting so close," she said.

"Now it's snowing here and raining I just want to get to a bit of sunshine."
