Batty is sorry that Butcher has left Surrey |
Surrey wicketkeeper Jonathan Batty says the players feel responsible for coach Alan Butcher's departure. After a summer of disappointing performances, Batty told BBC London 94.9: "The players feel for him, we feel we've let him down. "It's up to the players, once you get over the line, to perform. "It's up to the players to sort it out, get it right and make a come back next year - and bounce back after just one season in Division Two." He added: "We've got to go away, re-assess and work out what went wrong. "The squad we've got is a very, very good squad and, being realistic, we shouldn't have been relegated with the talent that we have. "The players are very sorry to see Alan go. He's been a great help, not only to myself, but to all the Surrey cricketers over the last 10 years. "He's one of the best batting coaches around and it's going to be a sad place with him not around next season."
