Surrey batsman James Benning is raring to go ahead of the county's Twenty20 Cup opener with Essex on Wednesday.

The 24-year-old right-hander told BBC London 94.9: "I love it, it's a short format, with a big crowd. You get to give the ball a bit of a whack.

"I think [our aim is] to get the side off to a great start and just push to high totals.

"We missed out [on the finals] last year, so the key thing for us is to qualify for the finals day."
