Pedro Collins cut a lonely figure in the end for the West Indies |
Pedro Collins has said it was not a difficult decision to turn down the West Indies to play county cricket. The left-arm seamer, 31, rejected a call-up to the Test squad to face Sri Lanka to honour his Surrey agreement. Collins, who played his last Test in July 2006, told BBC London 94.9: "I was playing in the home domestic competitions and performing well. "But I wasn't really getting a look-in, I was looking for any break I could get and I'd always wanted to play county." Collins joined Surrey on a two-year deal in October. He added: "I was in England playing league cricket and I was approached by [Surrey manager] Alan Butcher. "I was picked for the West Indies team but I decided there and then I was looking forward to my future. "A two-year deal sounded pretty good and I wanted to be playing cricket, not sitting on the sidelines watching."
