Somerset's Kieswetter outlines his England Test target

England match-winner Craig Kieswetter says he is determined to cement a regular place in the national side after returning to Somerset.

The 22-year-old South African-born wicketkeeper helped England win the ICC World Twenty20, smashing 63 in Sunday's final against Australia in Barbados.

He knows he still has much work to do if he is to break into the Test squad.

"For me, it's about trying to keep progressing and trying to improve," Kieswetter told BBC Radio Bristol.

When asked how soon he could become a part of the Test side, Kieswetter replied: "Hopefully as soon as possible but Matty Prior's got the gloves at the moment and it's my job to keep pushing him.

"I'm not going to be able to push him unless I keep getting runs.

"I will be keeping my feet on the ground but also trying to put in consistent performances whoever I play for."

Kieswetter also knows that England have more hard work in front of them if they are to carry their momentum into the summer.

"We're all pretty pumped and chuffed with what we've achieved but we've only won one World Cup," he added.

"There's still a lot more we want to achieve. There's a big summer coming up and we're now looking to try to continue to develop as a side and bring as many trophies home as possible."

He also admits that his international progress has been quicker than expected.

"I was very surprised first of all to be selected for the academy but from there it's gone on step by step and a lot quicker than I thought it would," he said.

"The management are very welcoming in getting the players ready for the games.

"It's nice to get runs and be part of the side that wins but being the man of the match makes it a lot sweeter for me."
