Trescothick last played for England in a tour game in Australia |
Marcus Trescothick will be fit to play a full part in the forthcoming county campaign, says Somerset's director of cricket Brian Rose. The 32-year-old opener pulled out of Somerset's pre-season trip to the UAE because of his stress-related illness. But Rose told the county's website: "I spoke to Marcus and I am certain he will start the season with Somerset. "I don't see the setback as a major problem. Marcus will be a key player again this summer." Trescothick made the decision not to travel just hours before Somerset were due to leave Heathrow Airport to catch their flight to Abu Dhabi on Friday. He has been suffering from the stress-related illness since February 2006 and has not played for England since August of the same year, leaving early from tours of India and Australia. Rose added: "His cricketing life is with Somerset and I am sure he will continue to enjoy playing for the club as he has done for many years."
