West Indian all-rounder Omari Banks has arrived at Somerset to prepare for the new season as a first-team player. The 25-year-old signed for the county in October having played for Somerset's second-team during 2007.
Banks told the club website: "I am delighted to back in Taunton, I am looking forward to a wonderful season.
"Somerset has a fantastic history and lots of great players have played here, including Sir Viv Richards who has been an inspiration to me."
Banks, who does not count as an overseas player as he was born in Anguilla, a British protectorate, has been in South Africa during the winter and has been working with former county favourite Jimmy Cook.
"He is a great coach and I learned a lot from him, his ideas and coaching will help me a lot during the coming season," added Banks.
"Now I want to put all the work I have been doing into practice out on the field."
