Somerset have named unknown Andy Hurry as their new coach after Mark Garaway left to take over as England's video analyst and assistant coach. Hurry, a former Royal Marines fitness instructor, was named second XI coach for 2005 but left to help the UAE.
Director of cricket Brian Rose said: "He knows the set-up well, which will make the change almost seamless."
Captain Ian Blackwell added: "Andy is already familiar with all the players on the staff which is important."
Hurry has no first-class playing experience but has achieved ECB coaching qualifications up to Level Four.
His first assignment will be to take the Cidermen out to South Africa in March for a pre-season tour, where former Somerset batsman Jimmy Cook is expected to help with the coaching.
Garaway had only held the post for one season before joining the England set-up as replacement for Tim Boon, who is now in charge at Leicestershire.
