Garaway replaces Shine at the Somerset helm |
Somerset have confirmed Mark Garaway will take up the post of head coach, replacing Kevin Shine. Shine will take up the post of director of development and coaching, running the ECB Regional Academy.
"The cricket panel believes that Mark has a strong relationship with our players," said chief executive Peter Anderson in a statement.
Former 2nd XI coach Garaway spent four years as a wicket-keeper with Hampshire but was a rare first-team player.
Shine, who has held the top job since 2001, led the Cidermen to the C&G Trophy in his first season and a place in the final the following year.
But they have struggled of late. Last year they missed promotion in the Championship and came third-from-bottom in the one-day league.
