Scotland opened their campaign in the ICC Intercontinental Cup with a 30-run victory over Canada at Aberdeen. The North Americans began the day seeking 243 for victory after Scotland had ended their second innings on 199. Sandeep Jyoti top-scored for the Canadians with 47, helping them recover from 60 for four to 124 without further loss before Moneeb Iqbal dismissed him. Shaheed Keshvani added 34 in the lower order and Geoff Barnett was the last man out to Calum MacLeod for 31. Jan Stander had earlier hit 64 for the Saltires, who reached 199-9 in their second innings after labouring to 185 all out on day one. The bowling of Canada's Rizwan Cheema put paid to the efforts of Ryan Watson, Richie Berrington and Ewan Chalmers. But Stander and Gordon Drummond produced a 69-run eighth-wicket stand to put the Scots in command. Scotland's next action will be a one-day international against Canada on Tuesday.
