Coetzer to keep Scotland waiting

Batsman Kyle Coetzer might not play for Scotland in this month's One Day clash with England, despite starring in the World Twenty20 qualifiers.

Coetzer averaged 33 in his three appearances in Belfast, including 48 in the third-place win over Kenya.

But the Durham player will not say if he will make an appearance at The Grange in Edinburgh on 18 August.

"We'll just have to see what happens," he said. "It's not that far away now but we'll just have to see."

The former Stoneywood-Dyce player made his return to the Scotland line-up after a two-year hiatus, having opted last year to concentrate on solidifying his place at The Riverside.

Scotland team chiefs have confirmed their wish to see Coetzer, 24, become a regular feature in the international side. And the player himself admitted he enjoyed his link-up.

"It's great to get involved and be part of it," he added. "For me, it's quite a nice getaway. I've had quite a hard time of it and to come here to play positively worked out quite well."

An integral part of the Durham side which lifted the Friends Provident Trophy last summer, Coetzer admits his form has dipped, leaving him languishing mainly in the second eleven.

"I need to make that push back. It's hard to break back into the side there. Will Smith has been doing amazingly this year. He's scored lots of runs.

"And Shiv (Chanderpaul)'s now there. I just have to make a push and hopefully I'm ready when the chance comes round."

Meanwhile, the ECB has confirmed that tickets have been held back for Irish and Scottish supporters who plan to follow their side at the World Twenty20 next June.

Several of the matches have already sold out but officials have stated that an undetermined number have been set aside.

The ECB has also revealed that the television rights to the Saltires' home internationals from 2010-13 have been sold to Sky Sports and Five, as part of their current sales deal with Cricket Scotland.
