Notts have not won any silverware since the 2005 County Championship |
Nottinghamshire's fate is in their own hands as they aim to claim the Pro40 Division One title, which would be their first one-day trophy since 1991. Victory on Sunday would guarantee Notts top spot in Pro40 Division One, and their first silverware since winning the County Championship in 2005. Notts batting coach Paul Johnson said: "You can say it's a final. "In the straight knockout competitions you have to go through and win one game and that's all we've got to do." Johnson knows that defeat on Wednesday night at the hands of Lancashire was hard for the players to take, but he is adamant the squad will not need much encouragement. "It comes down to [us being] one game away from winning a trophy. We've got to try and get the lads back up, and I'm sure they won't take much getting back up. "We've got a good bunch of lads, they're very confident of their own ability. We've got to try and put this loss behind us and really go in with a very positive outlook on the game on Sunday." The last time Notts won a one-day trophy was 17 years ago, when they claimed the Sunday League title in 1991, and Johnson knows another honour is well within their grasp. "It's something that you say at the start of the year: 'We want to win something', and now you're 80 overs away from that."
