Newell aims to make the most of the short break

Nottinghamshire director of cricket Mick Newell has admitted his players need a break, before they continue their Championship title chase.

Notts do not play again until Friday, when the Championship leaders face bottom club Surrey at Trent Bridge.

Newell told BBC Radio Nottingham: "I think the players need a break. Twenty20 isn't particularly arduous, but there's a lot of travelling time."

"This is a chance for them to have a few days off," added Newell.
