Hussey will be playing in Championship Division One next summer |
Australian David Hussey is to remain as one of Nottinghamshire's overseas players for another two seasons. The 27-year-old batsman has been a huge success this summer, scoring more than 1,500 runs in all competitions, including six first-class centuries.
"This team has masses of potential," the 27-year-old commented.
"I've enjoyed being part of it and I am delighted to have been offered the chance to play for another two years at Trent Bridge."
Hussey was signed initially to provide cover for fellow Australian Damien Martyn.
But Notts decided to sever their connection with Martyn because he would only have been available for a short period in the mid-season due to a knee injury and international commitments.
Director of Cricket Mike Newell admitted they had taken a "gamble" on Hussey because they had not seen him play.
"But he's our leading scorer, has been a superb character in the dressing room and his desire to do well for Notts is clear for all to see," said Newell.
Hussey's elder brother Mike has spent part of this season with Gloucestershire, having captained Northants to a double promotion in 2003.
