Northamptonshire Academy prospect Christian Davis has been named in the England Under-18 squad for next month's tour of India.

The 17-year-old all-rounder, involved in the Wantage Road set-up since the age of 11, was nominated to the ECB by academy director David Ripley.

"I'm delighted that Christian has got this opportunity," said Ripley.

"He has worked very hard for the chance and had to test himself physically to meet the demands."

He added: "Christian had a really good season with the academy last year and this is a good progression for him, which should stand him in good stead for the future."

Davis, who made his debut for Northamptonshire's Second XI last summer, said: "It's a great honour to represent your country, so I intend to make the most of the chance and learn from playing in one of the most testing environments in the world."
