Capel's men are still battling for a quarter-final place |
Northants head coach David Capel was happy to settle for a point after rain washed out Thursday's Twenty20 Cup match against Somerset at Taunton. The Steelbacks were going well at 49-0 from five overs when a thunderstorm ruled out any further play. "If it had come down to a five-over thrash, whoever had lost would have been left feeling pretty unhappy," Capel told BBC Radio Northampton. "It was the probably the fairest result on a day like that," he added. "It's down to the umpires to decide whether it's fit to play or not, and that's what we go by. "You have to control the controllable - but you certainly can't control the weather." Northants and Somerset are level on 11 points at the top of the Midlands, West and Wales group, a point clear of Worcestershire and Warwickshire. Capel's men face Glamorgan at Cardiff on Friday evening (1900 BST) before entertaining Worcestershire at Northampton on Sunday (1430 BST).
