Jones will provide an extra seam bowling option |
Northamptonshire have increased their seam bowling options by signing Welshman Steffan Jones from Somerset. The 29-year-old has accepted a two-year contract is the club's third signing since the end of the 2003 season.
He will join former England batsman Usman Afzaal and South African Martin van Jaarsveld at the County Ground.
"Steffan is a genuine competitor, a fitness fanatic and no stranger to hard work," chief executive Steve Coverdale told the club's official website.
Jones, a former Cambridge University blue, had been on the Somerset staff since 1997, but was recently told he could look for another club.
His best season came in 2001 when he picked up 59 Championship wickets and took 3-40 at Lord's as Somerset beat Leicestershire in the C&G Trophy final.
Northants will be playing in Division One of the Championship and National League next summer after clinching a double promotion.
