Malan made his Middlesex debut in 2006 |
Middlesex batsman Dawid Malan has signed a new four-year deal through to the end of the 2014 season. The 23-year-old has been Middlesex's top run scorer in first-class cricket for the past two campaigns. In 2010, he scored three championship centuries and was the county's only player to pass the 1,000-run mark. "I've enjoyed the time I've spent at the club and feel my cricket is moving in the right direction," said left-handed opener Malan. "My aim is to play in a successful side and I hope to help take Middlesex back to where they were when they were dominating county cricket. "I also want to play for England and hope that by playing a leading role in the club's success I will be able to achieve that goal." Middlesex's managing director of cricket Angus Fraser said: "I'm thrilled Dawid has chosen to commit his long-term future to Middlesex. "He is a young man with a huge amount of potential. He works incredibly hard and has the ability to achieve great things in the game."
