Middlesex's managing director of cricket Angus Fraser has confirmed the club want to sign fast bowler Makhaya Ntini and batsman Sachin Tendulkar.

"Obviously our interest in Sachin is well known," Fraser explained to BBC London 94.9.

Fraser was eager to point out that although the club have made their intentions for Tendulkar clear, he must now confirm his availability.

"We are still waiting on Sachin's front," Fraser added.

"We are waiting to hear from him exactly what cricket India are playing during that three-week period at the start of June, when Middlesex have their Twenty20 matches."

The former England bowler also hinted that the club was a step closer to signing 32-year-old Ntini.

"Its no secret that we've been interested in Makhaya Ntini and we've spoken to his representatives."

"I'm not going to say anything on that front until he comes out and says something, he should be the one that announces things," Fraser added.

Last week, Middlesex captain Shaun Udal also expressed his delight at reports of the South African playing at Lord's.

Udal told BBC Sport: "We were asked would we be interested, and we said absolutely.

"He's got a fantastic record. He's taken more Test wickets than any other seamer in the last decade, but the decision is his."
