Lancashire wicketkeeper Luke Sutton believes two wins from two pre-season games is beginning to breed a state of confidence among the players. Sutton hit an unbeaten 50 to guide Lancashire to a comfortable 63-run win over Essex in the Arabian Cricket Challenge in Sharjah on Sunday. "I know how hard we've worked," he told BBC Radio Lancashire. "Our net sessions have been really high intensity and I still think we're working our way through the gears." Kyle Hogg took figures of four for 29 in eight overs to win the man-of-the-match award. "It was a really impressive performance. You've got to bear in mind the wickets are not giving much assistance to the seamers," Sutton said. | I have my own standards and expectations for what I can achieve |
"Hogg did get a little bit of movement to get Bopara and Foster and that probably changed the shift of their innings." Sutton also admits he is setting himself targets for the new season which begins in April, particularly with fellow keeper Gareth Cross also pressing for the position. "I have my own standards and expectations for what I can achieve and I certainly think I can contribute to the one-day side. "I do think there is room for both of us in the side and we'll just have to see how things pan out." Lancashire's next game of their United Arab Emirates tour is on Wednesday against Sussex. Scorecard: Lancashire: 255 for 9 (50 overs) Essex: 192 all out (46 overs) Lancashire Lightning won by 63 runs.
