Sutton spent five seasons at Derbyshire, two as captain |
Former Derbyshire wicket-keeper Luke Sutton says the lure of joining Lancashire was a too much to turn down. "This is a huge move for me at a great time in my career. Even driving through the gates I feel very proud and I can't wait to get started," he said.
"I've never won anything in my career, but I was proud to play for Derbyshire.
"It is a small county that struggles with financial constraints and at times their ability to win trophies was difficult," he added.
Sutton, 29, said he would heed some advice from Derbyshire's director of cricket as he begins life at his new county.
"Before I left Derbyshire, Dave Houghton gave me some good advice about that and the fact that he played most of his career with Zimbabwe, who were struggling," he said.
"Sometimes it draws the best cricket out of you because you know it's up to you.
"If you don't do well the team may struggle and I'm ready for the fact that might be different here."
