Hampshire paceman David Balcombe unsure of Kent future

Balcombe has made five first-class appearances for Kent

Kent paceman David Balcombe, who is on loan from Hampshire, says he is unsure whether he will return to Canterbury next season.

The 26-year-old has taken 30 wickets in his five County Championship games for Kent, including four five-wicket hauls.

Balcombe told BBC Radio Kent: "I'm not allowed to say anything, I've got one year left on my contract. I'm just pleased to be doing so well for Kent."

"It's been beneficial for Hampshire, I don't know what's going to happen."

Up until his loan spell, Balcombe had only played 29 first-class games for Hampshire in seven seasons, and he feels his career has been revitalised by joining Kent.

"They've all taken me in as one of their own, it's been brilliant." he said.

"I've been entrusted with quite a lot of responsibility. I like being thrown the ball all the time, and not fielding at fine leg.

"I've had a lot of overs, the way I've been getting people out has been the most pleasing aspect of it, I've done a lot of work in the winter on my action and it's paying off now.

"To get the rewards I have done has been unbelievable for me, but looking any further ahead, I just want to get through this game, Glamorgan next week and then see where I am.

"I'd love to get recognition with higher honours but it's just about performing in first-class cricket and performances speak for themselves."
