Kent batsman Martin Van Jaarsveld happy with T20 win

Kent batsman Martin van Jaarsveld is happy to have played his part in the county's win over Surrey that put them in the top four in their t20 group.

Van Jaarsveld's 62 helped Kent to a six wicket victory, their fourth in the competition this season.

The 37-year-old batsman told BBC Radio Kent: "I'm pretty happy, Twenty20 cricket is all about momentum.

"We had a bit of a blow the other day against Middlesex but today was much better. It was good to get some runs."

Van Jaarsveld shared a 112-run partnership for the third wicket with Azhar Mahmood, and Van Jaarsveld says the all rounder is a pleasure to bat with at the moment.

"Azhar's in the form of his life. He's lovely to bat with, he takes the pressure off you straight away, especially off the spinners. A man who can just stand there and hit the ball for six, it's lovely to bat with someone like that."

With nine of the 16 group games now played, Kent have won four, lost three and had two games abandoned, and Van Jaarsveld knows there is still work to do to qualify for the knockout stages.

He added: "Every game we try our hardest. You need a bit of luck and the rub of the green."
