Kemp has a justified reputation as a big-hitting batsman |
Big-hitting South Africa all-rounder Justin Kemp has joined Kent as the club's second overseas player. "I'm naturally very excited at the prospect of playing for Kent," said the 27-year-old, who will be available for Wednesday's match against Surrey.
"At this stage in my career it is important I play competitive cricket at the highest level."
Kemp has played for South Africa in three Tests and 24 one-dayers, and starred against England this year.
He struck a fearsome barrage of sixes in the series won 4-2 by South Africa, and could be a big hit in the Twenty20 Cup.
Kemp's arrival means Kent will soon be fielding three South Africans with international experience.
Andrew Hall is their other overseas signing, while Martin van Jaarsveld's contract has been agreed under the controversial Kolpak terms.
