Fulton guided Kent to third place in Division One last summer |
Kent captain David Fulton will miss the start of their County Championship campaign after undergoing surgery on his right eye.
Fulton was struck in the face by a ball which managed to squeeze through the gap above the grille of his helmet while batting in the nets last Friday.
An operation was performed the following day, although x-rays have confirmed there was no fracture.
"I think everything's going as well as it could do," club chief executive Paul Millman told BBC Radio Kent.
We are not sure how long David will be out Director of Cricket Ian Brayshaw |
"There's a period of rehab after any surgery which he must go through before we have any prognosis of how long he will be out."
Kent begin a three-day game against Cambridge University on Friday, with their opening Championship game against Leicestershire following at Canterbury on 23 April.
Former England all-rounder Mark Ealham will lead the side in Fulton's absence as vice-captain Min Patel also injured.
