Boyd Rankin impressed during the World Cup for Ireland |
Ireland paceman Boyd Rankin and wicket-keeper Niall O'Brien have been offered contracts to play in the controversial Indian Cricket League. The rebel competition has already attracted ex-West Indies and Pakistan captains Brian Lara and Inzamam ul-Haq.
"I hope to be in a position to sign it next week," said Derbyshire's Rankin.
Irish Cricket Union chief executive Warren Deutrom plans to discuss the issue in the next few days with Rankin, 23, and Northamptonshire's O'Brien, 25.
"As far as we're concerned, we would like to ensure they remain available for Ireland," said Deutrom.
Kapil Dev has been sacked as chairman of India's national cricket academy for refusing to give up his involvement in the new competition.
Other players who have signed up for the competition include Pakistani stars Mohammed Yousuf and Abdul Razzaq, and former South Africa all-rounder Lance Klusener.
