Boyd Rankin has been ruled out through injury

Pace bowler Boyd Rankin has failed to recover from injury in time to face Scotland in an Intercontinental Cup tie at Stormont next week.

Batsman Eoin Morgan and wicketkeeper Niall O'Brien are both included.

Leg spinner Greg Thompson, who has been in action for Ireland 'A' against the MCC in Malahide, is named a squad of 12 as Ireland begin defending their title.

"Greg has impressed me greatly with his leg spin. He turns the ball a lot away from the bat," said coach Phil Simmons.
