Crawley has been in prolific form over the past two seasons |
Former England Test batsman John Crawley has agreed a new three-year contract with Hampshire. The 34-year-old joined the club from Lancashire in 2002 and scored more than 1,500 runs in all cricket last summer.
"I am delighted to have been offered the chance to be part of the action for at least the next three (years).
"I believe it is a great time to be playing for such a positive club and that we are on the verge of something special," Crawley commented.
Hampshire finished second in the County Championship last summer, having won promotion 12 months earlier, and lifted the C&G Trophy.
They will again be led by Australian Test star Shane Warne in the 2006 season, with Shaun Udal and Crawley the side's other senior pros.
"With a number of younger players in our squad, having the experience and skill of John is very important in the development of these players and gives us a suitable blend of youth and experience.
"John is a proven match-winner and I feel some of his finer years are ahead of him," first team manager Paul Terry commented.
