Hodnett has played just five times for Gloucestershire this season |
Gloucestershire batsman Grant Hodnett says he feels underused and underrated by his club following only his fifth appearance this season in the first XI. Hodnett, 26, made a gesture as he reached a half-century in his side's Twenty20 Cup win over Northants. "I pointed to my name and number on the back of my shirt as I wanted people to know I've still got a lot to offer," he told BBC Radio Gloucestershire. "It's the last year of my contract and I just wanted to make a statement." The South African-born batsmen added: "It's more of a frustration and I just wanted to get my message across." | Wouldn't it be nice to spoil their party? Gloucestershire's next match is a local derby against Somerset in the Twenty20 Cup at Bristol on Friday. They will be hoping for a repeat of their earlier Twenty20 encounter which saw Gloucestershire win by 21 runs at Taunton. Since then the fortunes of the two counties in the competition have differed greatly with only Somerset having any real chance of progressing to the knockout stages. However, Hodnett admitted the rivalry between the two is still as strong as ever. "They're a big team with big players and it would be nice to do them over. "Wouldn't it be nice to spoil their party? We don't like Somerset," he admitted.
